I figured I'd post this up for some that are curious about this...
I purchased my 2002 Corvette with 19,300 miles in LA in March.
I drove 9000 miles in 9 months.
And here are my ownership costs.
Defects:
2 Cracked rear wheels due to production defect - $340 (dealer list $1200)
1 EBCM Module Repair ( i knew about this when I bought the car) - $200 (dealer cost is $2000)
Problem with the aftermarket air intake.- $0 fixed it myself for free
1 Module to disable column lock and prevent a possible lock up $50 (no dealer fix)
Total $590
Maintenance:
4 New tires- $400 since the old runflats(that are worth $1600) were done with at 25,000 miles
2 Mobil 1 oil changes at $50 a pop which includes 6.5 quarts of M1 and filter
1 Transmission Fluid change - $20
1 Radiator Drain and refil - $20
Total $540
Total for the 9 months was $1130
If I replaced the tires with crappy OEM tires and paid dealer retail my total would have been close to $4400
