Tire size HELP

Hey guys, what is the widest tire you can put on a factory rim? Yesterday I almost lost it when I hit the button going into second. I can go a little taller on the tire but don't want to go too high and change the gear ratio any...
Thanks for your input.

I run 255s on the back for my drag radials at the track on my stock rims and they dish pretty good so I would say not much past that. If you are going to go slightly taller on the tire, make sure you go slightly taller on all four. If the front and rear tires are off by too much, your wheel speed sensors will act up and cause ABS/Traction Control issues.

I'm sure if you do a search, 285s fit but some opinions are that it's too wide for a stock rim. I believe the stock wheels are 7" and the rule of thumb is no more than 2" over the wheel width which puts the max around 230-235.

Anything over 255 and the bead will not seat correctly on the wheel. You will run the risk of the tire collapsing under hard cornering.

There is a guy on another forum I think he's running 295's or a 305 something retarded like that he even posted a pic of it. I'll try to find it and post the link to it.

That term offends many, but I'll admit that beerdog's usage got a chuckle out of me, as well.

As for the tire sizes, I have been running 245/50R16 tires as advised in the tech FAQ, and have been very pleased with them.

It is also worth noting that I have an ASHAM8 installed in my car, and usually drive it with the suspension lowered a bit. I think it looks better. :D

Well the 255's are on the rear, now I am wanting like a 205 for the front on the factory rims. The look is perfect, I have gotten a lot of compliments on the look of the rear tires on the car.
I am off this week so, I also will be pulling the springs on the front to take another 1.5" off, hopefully this will get the car to sit level and not higher in the front.
Thanks for the input you all give.
