OK guys, what is the cheapest 3500 stall torque converter out? How much of a difference on launch and in the 1/4 mile is there with the 3500 stall compared to the 2500 stall.

This summer, i will put on 4.10's and a track-lock unit, and I found a NEW PI 2500 stall for $110. What is the verdict?

Also, how much should I lose on the 1/4 ET with all of this done?

the factory torque converter stalls at something like 2000, so you're not going to get much of a gain from a 2500 stall. Where are you getting a new converter for $110, and what kind is it? The one they make that fits our cars is the Stallion, and new ones go for about $700. If you can get a new PI stallion for $110, buy it and send it back to PI for a stall change. You want 3000-3500. I have a 3200 stall and i love it, but i could always go for a little more, so i'd recommend 3500.

Where are you getting this from? I'll be pissed if that's for real, and a new converter. I just paid $500 used, and that was a fair price. They go for over $700 new.

The price should not be dependant on the stall speed.

It's just a local guy, probably doesn't know what it is. I havent seen it firsthand, so who knows if it's PI for sure. It's gone now anyway, I didn't want to snag it if the stall was too low. There are a lot of those types in the middle of Kansas. Sometimes they want a TON for stuff, sometimes nothing.

Can anyone tell me how much I will lose on 1/4 ET's with 4.10's, posi and a 3500 stall tc?

If your looking to save a few bucks look torward the company EDGE converters.I have been hearing good things out of them lately.
I have some personal experience with them too.We put one in my friends supra with a turbo 400 tranny. They designed it off of his dyno sheets with a different converter. It wasn't quite right the first time, but we got an accurate dyno sheet off of it, and they rebuilt it off of the second dyno. The second time they hit the nail on the head.Which is very hard to do with a big power turbo car.You need it to stall high enough to get into boost but one that is tight enough up top to get good MPH out of it.
I think they are around 500 bucks

does edge offer a triple disc converter? i know the morris single disd holds up to 350hp, i will be installing 4.10s with a 100 shot as well as the cobra intake and eventually headers. i just dont want to cheap out on the converter.

I dont believe so.But if I were you I would get ahold of them. Its my understanding that their single disk is easily as good as PIs Triple.
My friends supra is Making over 900 RWHP through a turbo 400 and the converter is holding up flawlessly.
Check out their site. Its pretty informative. And I believe now they are making the Street Edge and the Pro Edge now for our trannies.
