Torque on LT/RT bearing retaining nuts on 98 Mark

I replaced both front hubs and bearings on my Mark.....pretty straight forward except when I torqued the retaining nuts.....my torque wrench only goes to 150 ft/lbs. Now I know the torque goes to over 200 ft/lbs but I can't get there....so do I worry about NOT having the "proper" torque on the retaining nuts?.....the 1st time I did this I put the 150 ft/lbs on and then cranked a little more......how much more?......only God knows.....let's just say those nuts were on very, very tight.....especially the LT one.....I don't want to do that again!......so is 150 ft/lbs OK?

You can take your torque wrench to its limit. The use breaker bar to move t another 1/8 trun. Ther eis not much angular movement between 150 and 200. I think the the min torque is 160. Still better to locate a bigger torque wrench.

Oh, the nuts aer not hard to remove with an impact or a large breaker bar wit a pipe. Did you buy new retaining nuts?

i believe 188-254 ft-lbs is the spec.

i've reused my nuts a number of times without any issue.
i usually just stand on the breaker bar.

beerdog..... as the nuts are classified as one time use I did purchased new retaining nuts. Alright then the consensus is I (1) get a larger torque wrench. (2) get a large breaker bar (which I have) and re-torque the retaining nuts to spec or 1/8 turn on breaker bar......thanks you guys for the help......

I think the single use of the nuts is questionable. On earlier marks the shop manuals said to reuse them only 4 times. LAter manuals said to not reuse them. The nuts are designed ot provide an interferance fit to avoid backing off completly. Many peopel have resued them.
