Town car owners: how is your mileage?

I just returned from a trip to Texas in my new (to me) 1999 Town Car, and am a bit disappointed with the fuel economy. I only averaged a bit over 18 mpg over a total of 2000 miles or so. Admittedly, this was mostly interstate driving, much of which was just shy of 80 mph.

Although I'm not expecting miracles, I was hoping for 20-22.. what are the rest of you getting?

You should be getting more mpg on the highway. We average 18-19 mpg mixed driving. It's been a while we were on a trip with the Town Car but I remember 22-24 mpg being pretty average for the highway.

Well, keep in mind your using a winter blend in the upper part of the states here and it's colder out. So that will knock off 2 mpg's but with a trailer in the summer I got 17mpg over 800 mile trip and when I drove to Oshkosh WI last summer I got 25 mpg (MT car). I have the numbers to prove it but I avg 19.5 around town here (over the last 5000 miles) How are the plugs?

All valid thoughts. I know the Amstar station sells an Ethanol-free gas. I'll give that a go..

I haven't yet checked the plugs, and I have a list of other things to check after spending a couple thousand miles behind the wheel. Since the weather is supposed to be nice this week, I hope to be able to dig in.
