unleaded gas for a 1978 mark V?

can i use unleaded gas for a 1978 lincoln mark V? or do i need to do something to the engine first? like have hardened valves put in? or just put lead substitute to the gas?

I think the 1978 cars were already set up for unleaded gas. Check the manual, and the fuel filler pipe.

I don't think you can even buy leaded gas anywhere anymore. The lead substitutes are gone from stores too. 1975 and later cars, you have to use unleaded gas because of catalytic convertors. I think it should say unleaded fuel only on the dash by the fuel gauge.
