since everybody is from different parts of the counrty, witch one do you think is the better shop? i recently caught a few episodes of wcc and it looks like his buisness is 5x bigger than ua but imo, ua does much better work... probably a bit more exspensive but the workmanship and end result is outstanding... just figured it would be a good topic for conversation....:D

OCCUPY LoD :)
Hmmm....I think the owner of UA is a bit too full of himself but you're right, they do good work. I think WCC does more custom work though.

Are you talking about Pimp my ride shows?
yeah, thats were they first hit the tv.. i just caught a episode on some hd channel last nite and it wasnt produced by mtv. it gave a much better prospective of the shop...

willy is full of himself but he brings in some heavy hitters as clients. seems like he's got the personality that the celebs are drawn to. word of mouth is the best advertising and when celeb's want to outdo each other with a open checkbook, its a no limit budget.. great in a buisness prospective... add a tv show and you got the best of both worlds ehen it comes to advertising..

Yea I like confident people working on my car if anyone is going to but me :)
wcc looks like they have much more employee's but bigger isnt always better... a small group of guys that work togather day in and day out seem to mesh alot better than a bunch of people who dont know what each other is capable of. plus, willy isnt scared to voice his opinion. no matter who it is directed towards.... the owner of wcc has a guy who is about 6'7 and looks like a ultimate fighter to keep the guys in line, ua only has the owner as the go to guy in the event of a mishap. to me, that shows leadership and confidence.

im still waitin for the overhaulin crew to yank my pops 64 falcon from his garage... man, that would b awesome... he's had it since 1975 and refuses to part with it. between me and my 2 younger brothers, we've done a few things to keep it from goin to the grave but as we got older, we directed our attention elsewhere... its hurtin pretty bad but it still has potential. with a jump, it starts but its been 5 years since any major wrenching has been done....

unique autosport is a joke, come on you need to watch more episodes. when clients of that calibur bring in the $200,000 dollar cars and up, the last thing i would want to see is Chet and Remy out in the parking lot with saw horses set up spray painting my interior pieces with rattle cans. Chet knows his wiring, and Remy builds some really nice speaker enclosures, but as a company, UA is a lot of hack work, and spray paint isnt how you make your money, otherwise i could have a house right next door to Will. west coast customs, ( not the crap you saw on the old episodes of pimp my ride) the real west coast customs shop has will blown away when it comes to custom fabrication, i mean they made a 4 door range rover into a two door, along with a mercedes also, no one in will's shop would even know where to begin. UA bolts on fancy wheels and does stereo systems, WCC builds cars that we never built!

not sure what it was outta the box but i do know its a 2dr hardtop sprint. its always had a 289 hi po v8 with a c4 trans in it. it sounds really good but my younger brother went to a automotive trainnig school for 2 years and yanked the motor and trans for a project he wanted to do while he was there... cant remember exactly what he did but i know it got bored out 30 over, got a cam and a set of heads. rebuilt the trans and put it back in the car... i think its got a 750 holley carb on it. long tube headers and a full exhaust. the last time it was on the road it just wasnt fast imo... a mark viii bone stock would walk right by it in a 1/8th mile run... never did figure out what the problem was.... neat little car but its my pops and things i would do one way might not sit well with him.... i know another guy who has the same car that stuff'd a 460 in his and did a mini tub at the rear end... thats what i wouldve done but its th ol mans car so he's got the final say...

UA seems to bring in some huge names and make some huge $$'s....
i guess it depends on what your exspected result wants to be... ua does have some high pofile clients and they all want the biggest and/or baddest rides but when its gets old or they get tired of it, it can be put back to stock and traded or sold. so, in that aspect, ua is the go-2 crew. if you want a total one off custom ride, forget wcc, id hand the keys to chip foose. he's got a way with cars that i have yet to see any one else come close 2. if $ is no object, why mess @? in the end, its really boils down to the owners taste and future plans with the car...

was it the bigass f650 owned by a football player or the dumptruck that a local guy had? thats the only 2 big trucks i can think of off hand.... either way, both have thier cutomers/clients, they both gotta b doin somethin right. if not, one would go outta buisness just by the bad reputation that goes along with poor quality.

"if you want a total one off custom ride, forget wcc, id hand the keys to chip foose"

the post was asking who is better UA or WCC, obviously foose blows almost anyone out of the water there is no comparison at all between these two and chip. the only person i see better than chip is his father, without sam there wouldnt be a chip foose.

2X what he said foose has laid out some nice work i love all his work they are all works of art that are very drive able. UA does seem like more of a bolt on shop than a custom shop and most of the custom stuff they have done on the show i have done in my drive way. maybe not on their level or speed but i could do it. now shaving doors into the body and stuff like that i would not touch yet that it true custom work.

#1: hats off to foose
#2: WCC

#3: UA

If I had that kind of money, it would absolutely be Chip Foose. His work is incredible!

We got to meet him once, and he's just as nice in person as on tv.
