What can we do to help the hurricane victims?

What can we do to help the hurricane victims as a club and Lincoln comunity?
Yesterday I participated a run in NYC with the Corvette community and we raised $4,000 for the Red Cross (you can see pics at he link below).
Now we are not as big and we are more wide spread here so we can't do the same thing. However, I will ask the officers of this club if we can maybe do an other raffle here with the proceeds donated to the relief effort? We can raffle off club merchandise and try to get our sponsors to help out as well. Every little bit helps, this is the worst natural disaster in this country history. The city of NO is completely destroyed and needs to be abandoned with the coast of MS devastated as well as other damage in the gulf coast and other states. Anyone have any other ideas on how we can help out as a community?

Steve, I commend you and your local Corvette community for your efforts to help in this time of historical need.

While I urge everyone to donate to the relief effort on a personal level, I welcome any suggestions on what can be done as a car club in a unified effort to show our support.

If we can figure out some sort of raffle/fund raising event in time for the Chicago meet, I'd love to help out. In terms of ideas, the only thing I can think of is a raffle, but I haven't given it much thought.

Raffle is good, just one suggestion, keep the ticket price low, like $5 a ticket.

I think a raffle is a great idea, however we would have to decide where the profits from this raffle would go (organazation)

IMHO, many like I have donated or will donate personally to the Red Cross(or other organization) but perhaps a local need can be identified and efforts made to help on a more individualized basis?

I don't think we should get hung up on what organization to donate to. The Red Cross and Salvation Army are the bigger two that are on the ground helping out. Any domestic organization on that list is probably good as long as we can designate the money to the hurricane relief.

Just dontated $100 to the Canadian Red Cross, funds to be directly applied to the Hurricane Katrina effort. Should have done this sooner, but the effort is going to take a long time for sure...

As an update, we are working on details for a club raffle with the proceeds to go towards the relief effort. Stay tuned.
