I used to have an 89 firebird formula with a 305 tpi engine.... How do you think it compares to a stock 93 mark viii...my bird had a manual so of course it was fun, also weighed much less, but had less power

I feel confident the 93 would win. Considering the 93's are the fastest year (stock) and an 89 isn't firebirds best year. I feel confident a good running 93 would beat it off the line, but certainly would on the top end such as a highway drop.

The only way to truly tell is take it to the track !

93 for sure. Everything I've seen has the 1/4 of the bird at 15.2-16.1.

One of my good friends had almost the identical car but with an auto. The 305 tpi had some pep to it in its day but I don't think it has enough to outrun any year m8.

Hands down the 93 Mark would eat that car off the line AND high end on highway. Stock. I had one also w 5 speed and also had an 88 IROC tuned port 350. 93 and up firebirds were the way to go. If youre chipped and car is running right, you'll eat him. his rev limiter will be killing him on advance and throttling back his timing if hes not tuned, when you are just getting into 2nd gear on full throttle. yes, those sticks were fun cars, specially if you had T tops. Miss mine.
