The day has been set aside for them. Make them feel special [font size= 5]all[/font size] day!

If you're lucky enough for your mother to be alive, let her know what she means to you. I can assure you that you don't know what lonely is until your mother dies. Although my mom died three years ago, today I still wanted to pick-up the phone and call her.

Lee thanks for reminding us. My Mother is alive but her mind is really gone. It's so upsetting to try to talk to her because she doesn't understand. I long for those days when she was healthy.

I am in the same camp, Norm & Lee. It sucks today. IF I drank, which I don't, I'd get sloshed today, but good. Cognac, Hennessey!

I know it's especially bad when your mom doesn't recognize you. The last time I spoke with my mother, she was looking me right in the eye and asked me what my name was. It was just so sad. Gd, I don't ever want to get like that. I've always said that I'd prefer to die from being shot by a jealous husband.

My children's maternal grandfather just died on Friday. They're getting into LGA this evening, while it's going to spoil the Mother's Day activities for the family, he died happily, in a casino in Vegas. Wish we could all be so lucky as to go out doing something we enjoy.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms and Mom's-to-be out there. My Mom is 93 and I am luckly enough to be able to say she is of bright mind and spirit. Must be that healthy upstate NY living!

My Mom passed in 88' from a massive Heart attack and I do miss her very much.

Like it was said above, you do not know what lonely is until that happens!

Six of one, half dozen of the other. Either one, you're not laying in a nursing home dying of boredom or a blood clot or an infection brought on by inactivity. I just don't want to waste away a little at a time.

I agree, I don't want to die a little at a time. It's hard to watch a person you once knew so well, slowly fade away.

Well, I just got back from the rounds. Parents and Great-Grandparents on my wife's side, Parents on my side. Spent a couple hours with each. No better way to spend a day AND my kids were on their best behavior, a bonus.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all your Parents, Grandparents, and Great-Grandparents.
