RE: lost my best friend...
Frank - I’m so very sorry to hear of Coco’s departure and as my Gizmo lays here warming my toes I can appreciate your loss. The little bundles of fur and love become such a part of the daily lives of our families that their loss is truly that of the most dedicated member of our family. I’m with Ron on this, grieve, remember and all that but the best way to honor their lives is to open your home to another furkid when you and yours are ready. Think rescue because there are dogs out there that need what you have, a pooch loving home and have what you need, the unconditional love of a pooch.
DOG LETTERS TO GOD
Dear God,
How come people love to smell flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Where are their priorities?
Dear God,
When we get to Heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story?
Dear God
Excuse me, but why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not one named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! I know every breed cannot have its own model, but it would be easy to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler Beagle!
Dear God,
If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God,
Is it true that in Heaven, dining room tables have on-ramps?
Dear God,
If we come back as humans, is that good, or bad?
Dear God,
More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
Dear God,
When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get in?
Dear God,
We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent IDs, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
Dear God,
Are there dogs on other planets or are we alone? I have been howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is the beagle across the street!
Dear God,
Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
Dear God,
Is it true that dogs are not allowed in restaurants because we can't make up our minds what NOT to order? Or is it the carpets thing, again?
Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a function.
If a dog was your teacher
If a dog was your teacher, you would learn stuff like...
When loved ones come home, run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity of a joyride.
Allow the feel of wind and fresh air in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interests, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps often and stretch before rising.
Run, romp and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout........run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm, but stop when you've had enough.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig till you find it.
And most of all..
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
Are YOU as good as a dog?
If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can get going without pep pills,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against, creed, color, religion or politics,
If you can give love unconditionally without pressure or expectation,
Then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog.
