Prepare to Joust, Buzzard Bait!

I used to spend huge amounts of money on this game at the arcade in my younger days.

You need Shockwave to play it. It's the exact same code as the original, same sounds, action, etc, all the way down to having to put a "coin" in the slot.

Even if you've never played it before, it's a blast. Much more fun than a certain helicopter game I've heard of. ;-)

They've got a few other arcade classics here:

but Joust seems to be the easiest to play with only a keyboard. You can change the keys you use by clicking the "Options" button. Best for me is A = left, D = right, Enter = flap.

My best score so far is 98,300. Those purple guys are brutal! And don't let those eggs hatch!

I was a centipede girl myself, back in the day. ;-)

Look into MAME32 (or various versions)

Multiple
Arcade
Machine
Emulator

its a program you install, then you load game files allowing you to play hundreds or thousands of differnet, original arcade games. You name it, theres a MAME file for it. it uses actual binary images form teh real boards in the old games, so they play very identical to the original (depending on controls, mostly)

and its all free...

Yeah, I've got that too David. I just happen to like this one because it's easy to start up whenever I'm bored.

Have you seen those cabinets people are building with MAME built into them? They basically put a PC inside, with a monitor, with a control panel filled with every conceivable arcade-quality control (buttons, trackballs, joysticks). You boot it up, and you've got an arcade machine that plays everything ever made.

I've seen a few on ebay selling for upwards of $2000. Some are sophisticated enough that you don't even need the keyboard to start the software or to choose games. It's all done from the control panel.

I'd love to be able to play Tempest with a REAL spinner. The PC versions where you have to use your mouse or a joystick just plain suck.
