Political forem?

Hi Ya Paul:
Geez folks, why cant we have a political forem right below
the "Glove Box"?
Everyone could vent their views, and debate, have differences,
and argue.
I personally think it would step up the intrest.
I realiz this a car club board, but it would certianly be nice
if we could get this option, as we more or less all know each
other, and we have a large playing field;
Im going to post this, because lots may have not been intrested
in the "fuel prices" Best to All, Fuz

RE: How about A-

Be patient. Your request has not been ignored. The mods are working on some options as we type.

RE: How about A-

I am abstaining from entering any future political forums, as I wish to remain friendly to all, and all to remain friendly towards me! In the last one, after I stated that Hillary would make a damn good President, only being further brightened with the choice of the Rev. Jessie Jackson as her running mate, and suggesting that the new Speaker of the House should be The Rev. Al Sharpton and the Head of Foreign Affairs as Jessie Ventura, some people got nasty with me.....So I will stay out of it. ;-) I am somewhere betrween a conservative Democrat and a liberal Republican, Okay?
I think that Bush's Foreign Policy is brilliant! At home, his domestic policies leave me wanting. I don't like any of the "possibilties" from the Democratic side, with the exception of Lieberman, who is exceedingly trustworthy, honest and experienced. I have to wait & hear what he has to say, as it gets closer. Outside of Lieberman, Bush is the front runner for me. Now, if we could ONLY get rid of Alan Greenspan!!!!!!!!!!!!

"GO HILLARY & JESSIE" :) :)

RE: How about A-

As another guy who has been there, done that, I agree with Sandy, I'm staying out of anymore political forums.

as Sandy says, Bush is doing well, as his father did, on foreign policy. But the conition of the US economy may well lead to his downfall, as it did for his father.

I am a democrat on economic issues, and on SOME of the social issues' but definitely not on all.

As far as I'm concerned, gun control should mean a firm grip and a good aim.

RE: How about A-

Did you know that no other President went into an election with a higher approval rating than Bush, Sr. ? He had an 86% approval rating the day before the election - but lost because of the lousey economy, for which he was blamed. Clinton DID straighten that out. But, now we are back to square 1.

Ever think......Maybe we need 2 Presidents? One for Foreign Affairs and the other for Domestic?

You know...sorta like the painter paints the white house, the gardners do the lawn, the chauffeur drives the limos, the secret service protects, the electrician fixs the electric.....sorta like a specialist in each arena. Maybe there is something to learn from them. The Chauffeur would not very good doing the electrician's work, right? Ummmmmmm

RE: How about A-

"The economy boomed under Clinton" would be an accurate statement. Any statement attributing the boom to Clinton's policies, such as "Clinton DID straighten that out" is pure conjecture. Also, "back to square 1" is a bit of a misstatement. Our economy is on the rise again. It's like driving a Honda, it may stop fast but it takes forever to get going again. Clinton's policies are similar to policies that have historically been shown to cause an economic downturn (ie: running a budget surplus when the economy is tanking is irresponsible fiscal policy at best), while Bush's policies are similar to those that have historically preceded periods of record growth (ie: cutting taxes has historically been proven to stimulate the economy and increase tax revenues). I personally think that Bush is doing just fine on economic issues. Personal rights issues are another matter entirely (ie: the PATRIOT act is a very disturbing intrusion on personal privacy rights).

RE: How about A-

Sure is funny that we never had a balanced budget until after the 1994 congresional elections isn't it?

So why are huge deficits OK now?

But on another note...

It's easy to pin the blame or credit for the economy on a president. What you're all failing to take into account is the massive fraud and corruption that was going on in the mid 90's. Corporations cooking the books, huge conflicts of interest in the investment banking industry, THOSE are the reasons we had the boom and subsequent bust. For example:

Clinton was no more responsible for the boom than he was for the bust.

RE: How about A-

Sandy - it's too bad people took that seriously - maybe you should include some overt indicator that you are not serious?

I don;t see how anyone could take seriously any suggestion that Al Sharpton be elected to any national office. That was the clue right there!

and for someone as vocally anti-anti-semite* as you, recommending Jesse Jackson for anything should have been a BIG clue that you could not be serious!

RE: How about A-

The Great Rev. Jessie Jackson, Anti Semitic? No ..... You would NOT kid me.....would you ;-) ~ Why, just 2 years ago he gave $1.35 to the UJA ~ Hard to believe you, knowing that! (and) Jessie Ventura would FIGHT for what's RIGHT..... (Not LEFT) :)

RE: How about A-

Dave and Mark....you guys are right on point with the understanding of the economy that you have. Why is it that about 90% of the people in this country blame the economic downturn on Bush? It's actually kind of comical. How can anyone say that the economy is Bush's fault? First of all, it was heading south as Clinton's presidency was coming to an end, and secondly, who in their right mind would think that a president could cause the economy to fail within months of his election?

RE: How about A-

I agree with you, 100%

Problem is that the sitting President (no matter whom) always gets blamed for the "ills" that happen during his Presidency! Is it fair? No. But life itself is not fair. Are they (usually) correct? Well, maybe sometimes - but certainly not always.

People always have to look for a scapegoat, and who better than the guy at the top....

No, on a personal level I don't really blame either Bush OR Clinton for the economy. But there is NO way that I AM going to reveal WHO I do blame!! I am not THAT dumb!

RE: How about A-

I second the nomination for a "Politcal Posts" forum, that is if it's up to nomination.
