Hybrid not as gas efficient as advertized??

Seems that hybrids are not as efficient as advertised, getting about 10mpg+ less than the EPA estimate. But I guess this could be true for any car (to one extent or other). My mark is supposed to get 18mpg city but gets 15-16 in the real world.

That's not terribly suprising. I've never driven a car which could match it's EPA mileage rating. A friend of mine had a Toyota Prius for a few days while his car was in the shop and he said that even when he was trying to get goog mileage he couldn't get higher than mid-forties even thought hte car is rated at 55mpg.

The Prius does poorly in cold weather. It will get well over 50 in warm weather.
