There is no "R/C Cola Company". They are a sub-company of a massive soft drink company in Texas. They make & market:-7-UPWelchs GrapeDr. PepperCanada Dry Ginger AleSchweppes Tonic WaterSunkist Branded ProductA & W Root Beer & Cream SodasHires Root BeerStewart's Root Beerand a few regionals, such as out west,Bubble Up (a Lemon Lime soda)and others that I don't know about.I own no stock in them. I only purchase stock in safe utilities such as Con Ed & Texas Power & Light and others.Soft Drink stocks are too risky. A "fad" a month
[/div]

To be more specific, the brand "RC Cola" is owned by the british conglomerate Cadbury-Schweppes PLC, and is managed by its wholly-owned subsidiary DPSU Corp. (Dr. Pepper-Seven Up Corp.) in Plano, TX.

In 2001, C-S sold certain RC assets to Cott Corporation (Canada)- including the RC International assets.

And that's all I have to say about that. :D

Mr. Buffett can weather great losses than Mr. Block :)

I used to date a girl in the late 70s from White Plains, New York who was friendly with one of the daughters of the Cott Beverage family. Whatever happened to Cott Beverages ?? (No, I do not recall Ok Soda). Who made it ?

anyone remember OK soda?
[/div]

I do, that stuff sucked!!!

RE: Coke 2 to be released soon!

I believe that it came out late last spring (2003) and it lasted under 75 days. Pepsi has had many, many flops, just to name a few:

Cherry Pepsi
Crystal Pepsi
Pepsi Clear
Pepsi Lite
and
Blueberry Pepsi

BTW ...... Was OK Soda nationwide, or regional ?

In NJ we have one called Jones Soda. I was surprised to see that it's been doing pretty well for a regional (NY/NJ brand) especially with no advertising. It comes only in an old fashioned glass bottle.I have been known to hang out at "Bev-Net" the web site devoted to Soda nuts!
:9
I used to post, until the message board went the way of Coke II.

Heh, back when I was younger, I used to go Trick-Or-Treating around his mansion at Halloween. There used to be hellatious lines around his place, but they gave out anywhere from 1-3lb Hershey bars and stuff. It was always the talk of the town around Halloween.

RE: Coke 2 to be released soon!

Yeah, we have Jones soda here in Omaha. I think its a bit pricy, but the bubble gum flavor is pretty good. As is the Sour Apple.

RE: Coke 2 to be released soon!

W-O-W ! In Omaha ! I was told it was REGIONAL! Bad info, once again from a distrubitor. I had the Sour Apple, but didn't like it. I had the cola. It was just OK. Cold & bubbly but no real taste to recall.

RE: Coke 2 to be released soon!

God that Pepsi Blue was disgusting. It tasted like you were drinking a cheap air freshener.

Jones Soda has been around since the mid-90s or so in western Maryland, Sheetz convenience stores (god I miss those!) always carried it. I liked the green apple. They have juices too, the Starbucks in the Barnes & Noble here in southwest Florida carries them.

RE: Coke 2 to be released soon!

If I run into that distributor again, I will tell him. (He'll probably say, well.....it's region is the USA :))

I wonder who really owns it? Distributing it nationwide ain't no cheap feat.

I see alot of flavors there too, that I've never seen on the shelves. Big Line-Up

The Jones Soda Story

As of August 1st, 2000, Urban Juice and Soda Company Ltd. officially changed its name to Jones Soda Co (“JONES”). The story of the Company began in 1987, when Company founder and president, Peter van Stolk, recognized the potential of emerging “alternative” products in the beverage industry.
The company’s start in the beverage world was not as a manufacturer of its own brand, but as a distributor in western Canada of other successful lines, including Just Pik’t Juices, Arizona Iced Tea and Thomas Kemper sodas. By 1994, Jones was firmly established as a full line beverage distributor in western Canada, with a reputation for picking winners.

Utilizing its experience and knowledge gained in the distribution industry, JONES decided to create and distribute its own brands. In 1995, JONES created two brands of its own: WAZU Natural Spring water, launched in April 1995 and Jones Soda, launched with six flavors in January 1996. Jones Soda has been recognized and awarded for its unique packaging that features constantly changing labels that are generated and submitted by its consumers. In 2000, Jones Soda Co. launched its own version of an energy drink, named WhoopAss. The following year, in 2001, Jones Soda Co. launched 6 flavors of Jones Juice

Distribution of Jones Soda began with what we call our “alternative distribution strategy.” Jones Soda Co. placed it own coolers, bearing their signature flames, in some truly unique venues, such as skate, surf and snowboarding shops, tattoo and piercing parlors, as well as in individual fashion stores and national retail clothing and music stores. Following the execution of the alternative distribution strategy, Jones began an up and down the street “attack” of the marketplace; this time placing product in convenience and food stores. Finally, the Company has now begun to achieve larger chain store listings with companies such as Starbucks (Canada), Panera Bread, Barnes & Noble, Safeway, Albertson’s and 7-Eleven stores.

Jones Soda has also incorporated unique marketing initiatives in its strategy. Jones Team Riders and Jones Emerging Riders, including extreme athletes BMXer Mat Hoffman can be found promoting Jones and sporting the Jones logo at extreme sporting events across the country. The Jones RV’s on both the East and West coasts and in home base Seattle, travel throughout cities in North America handing out soda and talking to the people on the street.

Jones Soda has always been about the consumer and interacting with the consumer. From the ever changing photos on our labels to the company’s websites, www.jonessoda.com and www.myjones.com, Jones Soda has created a cult following and is a passion not only among soda drinkers but with its employees, directors and shareholders.

Run with the little guy… create some change.

RE: Coke 2 to be released soon!

That's good! That's good stuff there, Stanley. Didn't know anything about that company. Here, in NJ you very seldom see it. I saw it a few times in small lunchenettes and Pizza shops. I have never seen it in a suprmarket or large food store. I had the Cola and I think once a root beer (or birch beer). Of the 7 major chain food stores in No. Jersey, only 2 carry R/C. None carry Jones. They all have Coke/Pepsi (of course). Then the remainder of the space they use to push the store brand. A&P dropped R/C over the winter, and decided to use the space to sell A & P Cola. So....I've been watchin' the "space" ~ NOBODY buys the A&P Cola, the cans are all covered with DUST! But, they are still there!

RE: Coke 2 to be released soon!

Well, I just bought a bottle and tried it (Coke C2), and have to say it sucks. Sure, it doesn't have an after-taste. Problem is, it doesn't have any "before-taste" either! Bland, bland, bland.
