That "breezeway" rear window was quite a hoot. My grandparents owned a 1963 Mercury Monterey that had the same rear window, back when I was a mere toddler. I can only remember a couple of times when they actually opened it. It was only opened on the condition that I wear my seat belt, lest I get sucked out the back. ::uh:: They were a bit paranoid.

Also, you have to understand that my grandfather took great pride in the appearance of his car. Let's just say he'd make Sandy look careless. But since seat belts were supposed to be draped neatly over the front edge of the seat bottom, NOT used, it was a rare occurrence to have the window open.
