Nice one Neilster! 69 XR-7 Cougie is an awesome machine. 351W-4V...BTW, does it have a FMX or a C4? That's what I love so much about Mercury...they always took what Ford had, and added such tasteful touches of class, design and styling. The hide-away's make the front of that car so ominous looking...as if to say "I have something behind this grill, and if you want to find out what it is, look out".

You must be so proud...nothing says class like a powerful Mercury.

BTW, too bad Mercury didnt stay with its roots, as far as the Cougie goes:

I wondered if someone would notice Henry our cat, who just strolled out and sat down as if prompted. If I'd wanted him there, no way I could have made it happen!!

As for the scoop, it actually is functional. Previous owner installed it. Not ram air, but does dump outside air right on top of the air cleaner. I guess he was going for the Eliminator look, which is why he added the hood scoop, a rear wing and the front spoiler. I'm not big on the rear wing, but it's there. I really like the scoop and front spoiler though. I might just lose the extra driving lights though, as I think it clutters up the front a tad. I'll have to see how much light I get out of the circa 1969 headlights. Maybe that's why they're there!!!

Only days away from getting it on the road with plates etc. Ran into a minor glitch getting it "certified" with the DOT. Hope to have it legal either this weekend or early next week.

Any exhaust system suggestions would be appreciated. That'll be my first upgrade.

Nice ride, Neil - love the colour!!

I wouldn't worry about the headlights - as long as the headlight doors open and at least 1 of the sealed beam units works, you'll still have way more light than a 1st Gen Mark w/o HID's!!

Are those wheels Cragar SS?

Hey there Hug!!! Good to hear from you. Yup, those are Cragar SS. 14" on the front, 15" on the rear. Headlight doors and sequential tail lights all work fine. Actually, the headlight bulbs still have FoMoCo logo's on them!! As for the color, it's actually a GM color. Looks fantastic on this car tho... How's your Mark doing at your end?
