Do you ever wish you could turn back time and experience that small town atmosphere, a Mayberry RFD, or perhaps a town with a Louisiana Bayou feeling? The residents in Isleton (Crawdad Town USA), California live it each and every day in these modern times! They live it and they love it on a bend in the river where steamboats once drew excitement! Now, for three days out of the year, the town opens up to crowds reaching towards 200,000 people! Something is happening, you bet it is! Here's what is in store: this beautiful river delta town of 850 people turns into a fun filled, partying crowd of 200,000 over Father's Day weekend. There is the largest consumption of crawdads outside of Louisiana, over a three-day period, in any one town on the planet; some 22,000 pounds of crawdads, to be exact! Did you ever see a bunch of folks in a crawdad eating contest? You've gotta see it! It's a hoot! There are crawdad races (the losers may be eaten) for all to see! These rascals are the quarter horses of crustaceans and are race ready! Do you want to hear some Cajun sounds? We're talking about 20 bands covering four stages! There's more than just crawdads to eat, too. There is enough gumbo to float a boat and we know boats, since we're on the river! Yep, we have Jambalaya! The rice has spice, and plenty of sausage! Do you have a taste for gator? We've got it! It's said that these critters were domesticated and trained to jump into the fryer and on to a stick. They're yummy, even taste like chicken ... Nope, they're better! But wait, the festival is more than just food, there's carnival for all ages! You'll find plenty of vendor booths bursting with all that hard to find stuff you just can't buy in a retail store
