For Sale, 1999 6.8L V-10

I am selling the V-10 I was hoping to put in my Mark VIII. After thinking it was a year 2000 with PI heads, I discovered it was actually a 1999 with non PI heads after the fact. The engine is mostly compete, with an ECM, all the wiring, manifolds, intake, even an AC compressor, etc. I was told it had only 9,000 miles when I bought it, but I can't confirm that.

The entire engine has been disassembled and is in pieces across my garage. I could put it back together but the bolts are one time use bolts, so they would have to be replaced. New bolts are an expense I really don't want to pay, but if it's a deal-breaker we'll talk. I also did not yet take the time to learn how to degree the cams and everything, so if I completly put it together, it would need work before it would run. I just want to let people know that.

Due to the shoddy way it was shipped to me, there are a few small things broken wiring wise. I'll post pics when I get a new battery for my camera. Also it does not have valve covers at this time. The wiring harness is massive, and some of the connectors may be broken. I have not gone through it all to check. I can tell you that's they are quite sandy, as the seller lived in the nevada desert.

If at all posible it would be easier for everyone if they picked it up, but if shipping is required, I'l find a way. I'm located in Xenia, OH, near Dayton.

There are several pics on my website below. This would be a great engine for a project car, as it has gobs of torque, and with a new set of heads could put out 310 HP and 425 TQ.

I'm going to ask $2000 and we'll split shipping, but I'm open to offers.

talk to me here... $500 dissassembled. I'll even come to your house to pick up the pieces. I know where you live.

RE: For Sale, 1999 6.8L V-10

Joe, are you going to be able to fit that in the back of the viper?

RE: For Sale, 1999 6.8L V-10

I can give it a try. There is some truck area. I am sure the heads will fit in there.

RE: For Sale, 1999 6.8L V-10

i'll take your $500. If i remember right you said, "I'm going to ask $2000 and we'll split shipping, but I'm open to offers."

Open to offers means open to offers. I wish you nothing but the best at selling a torn down V10 for $2000.

RE: For Sale, 1999 6.8L V-10

For your information, the engine in non running condition, w/o the intake, wiring harness and ecm, can be used as core charge, and ford will give you $2000 for that non running engine. New from ford the engine is $6000, the wiring harness is $2000, the ECM is $300, and the intake (both upper and lower manifolds) are over $800. That's a total of over $9000. So I think asking $2000 is more than fair. At the very least you can use it as a core and get a brand new engine, and still have the harnesses, ecm and intake, which a new engine from ford will not come with.

New from ford, a Lincoln Mark VIII was over $40,000. We all know what they go for now.::roll::

Like it or not, with some items there is severe depriciation. I believe this to be the case with your engine DJ. I wouldn't accept 500 either, but I certainly wouldn't rule out any potential buyer. There isn't alarge market for the V-10s around here, not to mention the fact that yours is disassembled, you have posted pics of VERY rusty parts, and you mentioned that there are no valve covers and lots of connectors on the harness are broken. You may want to consider any and all offers, no matter how much pride tells you a certain price is required. Good luck selling. :)

See joe, why can't your posts be more respectful like Eli's?

The only rusty part is the water pump, which I've been told is common with iron blocks. I agree the market is very small, it's not going to be an easy sell, which is why I don't need people making stupid low ball offers.

I have been tempted to put it back together of late to see if that will make an easier sell. I just need to find a list of which bolts are TTY so I can replace them, as well as the valve covers.

The wiring harness may be sold, I'm talking to someone now about it.

RE: For Sale, 1999 6.8L V-10

I gurantee if some yahoo puts that engine back togeather, like yourself, noone will ever buy it. You had better leave it alone if you want to sell it.

RE: For Sale, 1999 6.8L V-10

And you had better start spraying those parts down with WD40, or Zep penetrating oil. That will disperse the water out of the metal and keep it from further rusting up. Just a little FYI pal.
