Fun at the Dragstrip

Ponyfreak, the Kid and I took the Mark and the Mustang up to the track and met up with Strapp & his new car, and later Mark showed.

Pony got 2 runs in my car - 14.88 @97.46 was the best. I was in the staging lanes when they finally closed the track so I didn't get any runs in myself.

Pony made a few nice runs with the Stang, but when the kid took his first trip down the track himself, he pulled of a 14.65 @96.69.

I don't know what Strapp's best run was, but I saw one that was a 13.05 not sure MPH.

It was cold and very windy, but the wind was heading in the right direction for racing. :)

Well, well, well... I wonder what Joe could've got out of MY car? :+

No fair using pinch hit drivers! :D

Glad you got out to the track. I'm sure everyone enjoyed it.

RE: Fun at the Dragstrip

Oh yeah, it was a good time. Pony was anxious like you wouldn't believe to go racing. :) And JP, you've still got me beat, I need gears, I guess. ;)

He said my car's not getting good traction off the line. We talked drag radials, but the prob is - the Kid says he won't put them on the car for me unless I get him some too...

Would've been fun to race the Mustang vs. the Mark. Maybe we'll get a chance sometime later this spring or summer.

RE: Fun at the Dragstrip

Damn, sounded like a bunch of fun..
I woke up late and had a lot of Graphic Design work to do, which I still am working on. LOL

We should make up another date in the next month and hit the track up or even a meet of some sort.

I also have some money problems, with all this Prom stuff and other things, so once this is all done, I should be able to focus on the Mark for the rest of the summer. :)

Yeah, I may have you beat(for now), but I hear footsteps coming fast from behind me! ;)

Probably traction lock would do the most, but that's just speculation since I don't know of a Mark VIII with traction lock without at least 3.73s for gears. I know some Mark VIIs have traction lock stock with stock gears. I believe my '91 LSC has 3.27 gears and it has traction lock. Before I put gears in the Mark VIII, the VII most likely would've beat my 60 foot times in the VIII.

RE: Fun at the Dragstrip

She needs a couple of things. some 3.73's with an track lock, stall convertor, some mods to the slush box to firm up those shifts a bit. A chip would probably take care of most of that. Then some headers. Then it would be as mean as it sounds.

That is the best sounding mark VIII I have heard yet.

If TriXXX would have ran that last time before it was rained out, she would most likely have had a 14.7X. It cooled off quite a bit and amazingly enough the cars were getting quicker as the track conditions deterorized. Except for Steve. He managed to loose .8 seconds somewhere. LOL

If he had more white face gauges he will own the 12's.

John got a long break in the staging lanes and the car was cooled off quite a bit. If he would have stuck the launch a little better, he could have ticked off a 14.5X. He ran his car very well.

As usual playing at the track is fun. Hopefully I will get to visit my local track soon.

RE: Fun at the Dragstrip

Yeah, Joe didn't let the cars cool off - he just kept running over and over and over again. :)

RE: Fun at the Dragstrip

Fun time! It was good to see the Mark gang. We have to do it again when the weather is a bit nicer. I should be in the 12's by then :)

RE: Fun at the Dragstrip

Joe, I told you the soundbites Trixie posted didn't do her car any justice. Once you hear it in person you get this strange warm fuzzy feeling. Darn was that a Lincoln making that sound.}(

RE: Fun at the Dragstrip

Nice pics Steve, and thanks for the ricer flyby on the way home. ;)

Yep, the 2nd Gen's can hold their own, Paul.

Ryan, thanks. And tell your dad I'm SSOOOOO sorry for calling you by accident on Sunday morning - I meant to call Joe.

No ricer flyby here...just in a hurry to get home and get some sleep ;)

RE: Fun at the Dragstrip

I know you just confused which cute lod member from ky you wanted to call. Don't worry about calling he's use to me getting calls at all hours, due to work usually.
