Infineon Raceway 8/11/04

Well to sum it up, it was pretty disappointing. Although the chip raised my end speed by over 2 mph (To what seems to be a normal time for a mk8) my time didn't decrease. My best time before was a 15.12@92.4 Now it was 15.18@94.8. My first run was a 15.5 @ 91.3. The track temp was 97 degrees at that time but it must have been much hotter at the track itself, probably over 100. Once it cooled down(4 1/2 hours later) I ran my best time. And I managed to pull a -.001 reaction time  (On my 4th run on the track ever)! Then I also had .045 -.175 and .550 reaction times. You have to go right before the 2nd light on my car kind of hard to time it just right. All in all I was pretty disappointed with my runs since I couldn't break into the 14s. And my 60 foot time went down to 2.38 (Best) and 2.57(worst of the night). With my old tires and wheels I ran a 2.225. So maybe it is time for 275s out in the back ::roll:: .
I must also say that I messed up since only the next day did I remember that I ran with OD and TC on (all the time)!!! xo . OH well maybe next time it will be better. CRAIG you better show up !!!

The track had some pretty interesting cars and trucks.
There was the new Dodge SRT 10 truck. It ran a 13.6 stock. There was an E55 AMG that ran a 12.9 with bad traction. My favorite was a lowered and supercharged Chevy Silverado that ran a 14.1 at the track, pretty impressive for a large truck like that.

Also I took pics of Mk7 vs Mk8 (Serge) ! There were 2 mk7s on the track. One was 5spd conversion and I think it ran a best time of 14.9 but I’m not sure. And the other ran a 16.5. Sorry about the pics since I took most of them are my car ::roll:: .

Your car looks right at home at the track! ;) Very nice pics.

Mk7 vs mk8 !!! I love it! I wanna race my '93 Mark VIII against my '91 Mark VII LSC. }(

Sounds like if you get some cooler weather and better traction, you'll be in the 14s. Temps like that will easily deprive you of 5% or more of your HP. So think of it like this... you were only running 95% throttle. :)

RE: Infineon Raceway 8/11/04

Nice pics, Max. Did you beat the 7? I don't think your times seem that bad. You had high temps, and that might just not be a great track to run on.

RE: Infineon Raceway 8/11/04

That wasn't me racing the Mk7. That was Serge I think his SN here is 46callaway. That particular mk7 ran a 16.5 and serge ran a 14.8??(don't remember what he had that run, since our times were all over the place that night). But there was another mk7 on the track that broke into the 14s. It was running pretty strong and it had a 5speed  .

RE: Infineon Raceway 8/11/04

On that run, the MK7 ran a 16.7 and I ran a 15.1 hitting the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift. Nice pics Max...

RE: Infineon Raceway 8/11/04

Nice pics, guys! Did you see a guy running a silver 350Z? He's from my office and goes almost every week - his best time so far is 14.1 sec. One of these days I'll make it again, ('won't be racing though...)

Hey Serge - 'ya getting a Callaway or sumpin'...? :D

I forgot to mention that the MK7 I raced had 2 people in it. BTW, a 4.6 Callaway is a Range Rover with some engine modifications...

I wish I had it, it's my dream car. BTW, I saw a silver 350z run a 14.1, which was very impressive. Is he all stock because other 350z's run much slower out there. My friend with his 97 Cobra ran a best of 13.9 there...

Max, that black 55 is a true Nostalgia center drive car(notice position of driver).

The yellow El Camino in the other lane is my buddy Mark Powers. That car is fully street legal, full interior, with EVERYTHING working, and still runs low 11's on the T-stop. he has it dialed in for 11.90's with about 2.5 in the box.

great pics. Sorry I wasnt there, but I can tell you right now, that in that heat, the track is about 1/10th slower, if not more.

Craig,
did you take a good look at that pic?

Both Staged bulbs are ON and the green light is on!
that's a pretty good SHOT!

Of course... no staged lights, and WHEELS UP would be better.
I just thought that pic was kinda unique, dont see that very often.

Yes that what i was trying to do capture them right at green. Take a closer look at the rear tires of the black "Bel Air"?? "Ripples"..

RE: Infineon Raceway 8/11/04

well done max!

that's a pretty tough thing to "capture".

with that said...
If you can "judge" the light THAT GOOD..
GET YOUR BUTT from behind the camera and "go win some rounds!"

*lol*

RE: Infineon Raceway 8/11/04

Excellent photo Max. Too bad both those drivers are toally SNOOZZZZZZZING at the line. if the light is green, and the tires are STILL in the staging beams...someone is sound asleep. And judging by the sidewall wrap on the 55, he is just starting the weight transfer...next time I see mark(yellow ElCo), I'll shake him to see if he is awake yet!

i have a photo somewhere of a "good reaction time". the bottom yellow is half-illuminated(starting to go out), and the green is half illuminated(starting to come on), and the front tires are about 6" in the air....it was a .001 R/T. can only get 1/1000th better than that!
