before they shut the track down I took the mark Viii to the track and ran a best of 10.1 with a RT of 1.54. 74 MPH. I had removed the tailpipes midway of the tranny and was running loud. I had to replace the tranny last year. Put in a tranny from monster transmissions inc out of fl. Street strip tranny and stock torque converter. also remover the airbox silensor. I raced a neon N/A, 70 charger big block, 2002 mustang amd I won them all. temp was 80 degrees and it was clear 60 % humidity and I am not sure how high above sea level minot ND is. this was on goodyear regata tires car lowered and suspension turned off.
I noticed on the first race the car would studder at about 3500 rpm it has always done it cold but now it was doing it all the time IMRC, it would also get 1/3 way down the track and high RPM 5500 rpm and just drop dead. After the sun went down some I noticed the alternator light was coming on when I reved it. Later I pulled codes and got the O2 sensor bad (IMRC), Bad Cam position sensor and replaced the alternator three times. besides all that I could have gone 9.99 or better. Is this a good baseline for this car? I would love to get it to a 1/4 mile track. I will be taking a road trip next summer. mods are k&n cone filter on stock maf, straight pipe to the rear with H pipe, tthings to come, Gears 410, 96 cobra intake, 3 stage chip or programmer, car is going on a diet oh and barrow a buddies slicks.
At the end of the night there were a lot of people eating their word and some humble pie especially the neon guy what was he thinking talking smack I believe he said grandpa car LOL.}(

My first 1/8 mile numbers was 10.005 @ 73.92. Gears, chip and exhaust were my first mods.
