Tips for Removing Door Panel

It's great to find a bunch of Lincoln owners in my newly adopted city. Anyone have any tips for removing the door panels on my 94 Mark VIII. The motor for the window just makes a clicking sound and if I push against the window, it will roll down and up. I thinks the window may be off track.

Carefully pry the triangular piece from the forward top corner of the door. Remove the screw from inside the courtesy light. Remove the bolt from behind the door handle cup. The cup prys out from the front edge. LIFT the door panel straight up about an inch, and you can then disconnect the wire looms, and you've got it. I think thats got it - its been years since I have worked on a gen 1.

Welcome to Houston!!!!

What part of town do you live?

We have a nice little "meeting" most every friday night out at Lonestar Motorsports Park which is on the west side of town on I-10 West at the Exit# 713.

let me know if you need more information or directions.

Should have 2-3 maybe 4 Mark 8's out there tonight.

.

Doubtful it's off the track, more than likely it's the window motor gear which has little rubber balls that wear out and cause just what you are describing.

The parts are cheap, the install isn't hard..but it is a PAIN.

That's about it whiplash, but the bolt isn't behind the door handle cup. It's located behind the window switch bezel. To remove the window switch bezel, gently pry the front of of the bezel up (the front end of it towards the front of the car). The rear part is just held in by a tab that releases when the front is popped up.

Then remove the wires from the switches. The bolt is located towards the rear of the bezel, and has an 8mm head.

You'll also have to remove the peice holding the door lock, memory, and mirror switches. This peice is removed by gently prying up from the rear of it this time. Then disconnect these wires too.

Oh yeah, Welcome to LOD!
