Cleaning gutters without a ladder

Red Green would be proud of me.:)

I live in a 2 story house located pretty much in the middle of the woods. Because of that, I have to clean out my roof gutters too often. I'm not afraid of heights (width's scare me though:D ) but the time and trouble of getting the ladder up there and moving it a few feet at a time gets old quick.

I bought one of those 15 foot extendable brush poles to clean the side of the house. That works so good that I thought I'd try this:

I wire tied my hose nozzle to the brush. The nozzle is at a perfect angle for spraying out the gutters. I also wire tied the hose to the pole to hold everything together.

It works great! I just lay the pole on the gutter with the nozzle above it and pointing into the gutter. I rotate, raise, and lower the pole a bit and spray the heck out of the gutter. I work from one end to the other of the gutter, and the junk just flies out.

Maybe I should get a patent for it.:)

I bet you where a poncho too cause of all the wet flying stuff !! I had the same problem with my gutters, and finaly broke down and got new gutters and guarding all around. Problems done for good. I also fabbed up an air line to blow the leaves out utilizing small diameter PCV and copper. Worked ok but gutter guard wokes better. That time of the year again as we now are having to start picking up the leaves so as not to kill the grass when we mow. That is the part I really dread about the yard. Leaves.

I never pick up my leaves. I mow them with my mulching rider mower and when I'm done you can hardly tell there were leaves on the ground. The mulched leaves add lots of nutrients to the lawn too.

Do you wear a bathing suit to do this??? Must be real messy!

THAT sucks!! What was the email address for it? They may have a web crawler attached to your computer...check for spyware.

I don't think it's as sinister as that. I've had a couple different iRobots in the past for testing and I did give them my e-mail address.

Yes, I did get a little wet, some mist mostly, no big deal, most of the water went down the gutter.

As far as mowing the leaves goes, I've got a "ghetto" solution for that too.:)

I start in the middle of the yard, and go spiraling outwards with the clippings chute facing towards the outside of the circle. This forces the chopped up leaves out from the center, and each rotation, they get chopped up more and more.

It's a fast and easy drive on my old riding mower and leaves a neat looking "crop circle" for a day.:D

You'll have your neighbors talking about crop circles then right.
I have a lot of Black Walnut tree's and if you try and just Mulch they eventualy kill the grass so about this time of the year I am forced to start picking them up if they get to thick. Towards the end of the season it is not uncommon for me to have about 150-175 bushels mulched and pilled to be taking away each week end. Thankless excercise.
