got a noise in front end, any ideas?

nope, I suspected it may be the rims, but didn't know. The only solid evidence I had was the sound was on the right, I swapped hubs from left to right and the sound migrated to the left. I changed the hub and it went away then came back on the 3rd day. And hasn't left since. If I had the funding I would try to buy new rims. I greased between the rim and hub and that didn't help but was suggested to me. I also swapped the rim from the front to the back and the noise stays in the front. So that would tell me its not, no?

Well, this is a good one !! Wheels mount to the spindle and are centered by the ground diameter on the spindle nose inserted into the wheel which is supposed to have a close tolerance bore in it. Could your spindle or the bore in the wheel have a lot of slop in it for some reason (maybe prior owner drove on a flat too long or had a crash)? I'm reaching here so bear with me. You indicated that you've moved the wheel around and it still comes back to that spindle causing the creaking noise, so it's gotta be something with the spindle. Smell the smoke ?-------------I'm still thinking

I couldn't help but notice that the wheel speed sensor for the ABS brakes has a goodly amount of metal shavings on it. Is it possible that the the ABS sensor is hitting the trigger wheel when making a sharp turn? Can you make the sensor move by applying pressure with your fingers? I have heard wheel beerings make some strange sounds but not the sounds that I heard in the video.

I did try to move it and also tested the noise when spinning it while having the wheel turned. I didn't video tape it but I thought of it and it doesn't make the noise unless there is weight on it.

Something around the ABS sensor is giving metal away! My guess is that the sensor is hitting the trigger wheel but I could be wrong. Why not try to remove the ABS sensor from the spindle and see if it still makes the noise. If I remember correctly the clearance is pretty tight so it can still be due to bad bearings even if there is an interferance.

yea yea, you know what there is some play in the bearing, I know there shouldn't be any maybe when there is pressure it hits

I think the back of the hub is hitting the ABS sensor on turns, there is mobility on it. I'm swapping it out Monday I bought an OEM one from Ford. I'll return this crap AM one after that

ok here is an update, I finally went to Ford to get an OEM hub ( I was away for a few days) and swapped it out. the crappy AM part was split open again. I installed the Ford part and now the noise is GONE! Lets see if this lasts. Thanks to all who have helped up to this point.

Glad to here that it is fixed! The pictures told more than a thousand words in this case! All of the shavings collected on the ABS sensor was a very big hint! If the hub is torqued correctly you should have no problem!

This thread made me think of a few things though. I have a complete set of Mustang Cobra front brakes (another swap meet find) that I was originally going to put on either my 82 Mustang or my 90 Mustang; however since they also fit the MK8 I was figuring I would install them on the Lincoln and get the Cobra hubs for the back. If I have similar problems I know where to look.

By the way I see that you are also from Long Island. There is a good car show/swap meet coming up this month on Wicks road (exit 49 of the LIE). I thought that I would pass that along.
