I went to the strip today, itw as a perfect day for racing about 50 degrees outside. I took a total of 8 runs, the first 5 I just tried launching without doing a burnout first and I couldn't brake the 15 second mark. the last 3 I got the tires sticky and then lanuched and I got into the 14's. I was told you learn something everytime you race your car, and today I learned a few things. the chip shifts better than manual, trac off is better than on. my mph at trap seems to always be around 95 ever run today.

2n'd to last run

reaction----.219
60 foot-----2.207
330 foot----6.385
1/8th et--- 9.698
1/8th mph---74.49
1/4 et------14.886
1/4th mph---95.31

last run of the day

reaction----.164
60 foot ----2.264
330 foot----6.433
1/8th et----9.75
1/8th mph---74.5
1/4 et -----14.932
1/4 mph-----95.36

The last run was against a new gmc pick-up and he got a 14.961 to my 14.932. I find it strange how we are so close in the et's but his mph was only 89.64 and I had a 95mph. these times are with my car right off the street, nothing removed and about a little less than a 1/2 tank of gas. I still have my stereo equip in, next time around I wanna gut the car and see what she runs.

Congrats on the times, but work on your reaction times a little more. :O) Looks like you are leaving just a hair too soon.

RE: 14.886 1/4.. new best time

the lower the reaction times the better right? my #'s have always been pretty good. I should've put a plus infront of the times. I just looked over the slips and every car has a plus and the 1 that has no plus is a .035 says foul on it( that wasn't me). I have the lights timed to step on it as soon as the last yellow light turns on.

RE: 14.886 1/4.. new best time

A perfect reaction time is .500. Anything below that is a red light or foul. If you were racing and your r/t was below .500 that means that you left before the green light and you lost. So anything above .500 is good, but the longer after .500 the worse it gets. I hope i made this clear.

The new deal.

The new deal.

Heres the new deal. I Love it. .000 is now a PERFECT light.

Beginning at the K&N Filters Winternationals, the opening round of the 2003 POWERade Drag Racing Series, NHRA will implement two significant changes on the starting line for the NHRA national events.

First, the numerical value of a driver's reaction time will be modified at each of the 23 national events. The modification simplifies the process of understanding a driver's reaction time to activation of the green lights on the Christmas Tree. Previously, a perfect reaction time for professional, and some sportsman drivers, was a .400. For the remaining sportsman competitors a .500-light was considered a perfect reaction time. Under the new changes, the timing system will be modified to display a perfect reaction time as .000 for all categories. This change only applies to the 23 national events that make up the $50 million NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.

On a pro Christmas Tree, a .399 light, or anything lower, would be considered an early start, activating the red light, which would result in a disqualification. Under the new system, a .399 will now be displayed as a -.001, a.398 will be a -.002, and so on. Anything from a perfect reaction time of .000 and above will be a legal start. The new timing system in no way affects any driver, vehicle set-up, or any other significant aspect of the competition on the drag strip.

your reaction time has nothing to do with your e.t's. you can sit at the light all day. Your "clock" doesn't start until you break the beam in front of your tires. the only time your reaction time comes into play is when you are in a heads up race where you need to beat the other car to the finishline or when you are bracket racing but as far as running your car against the clock reaction time really means nothing.

RE: 14.886 1/4.. new best time

ponyfreak,
I understand what you said about the times and anything below .500 is a redlight or a foul. I don't know what it is with this track but I have probally like 20 time slips from the past 2 summers and I have never fouled once, I have never been red lighted, and when I have raced cars that have gotten fouled or red lighted it says so on the slip. on thbe slips they use a + and a - sign to reflect the reaction times, and mine seem to be rightin sync with everyone that I have raced. I just check again just to make sure, maybe different tracks do things differently but my reaction times are good.

RE: 14.886 1/4.. new best time

possibly. Maybe you are .138 over a perfect. (.638) I have not been to a track like that yet. makes sence from what Gene posted.
