Before I begin my stories from the other night...understand that these races DID happen and there ARE witnesses to all of the events. Call BS if you want but I'll even have the participants vouche for me on these races
Race 1 - Mark VIII vs 2002 SLP SS Camaro (intake & center exit exhaust.)
My friend Jason is cruising along side me on the Turnpike headed towards Towers....Tony (nosferatu) is in the car with me on the cell phone with Jason as he is pacing me...Jason tells him he wants to go from 70mph. I had expected him to totally eat me alive! So I punch it at 70mph and I hear the SS open up! The thing sounded like a freaking monster!!!! However both Tony and I were shocked to see that my Mark VIII was dead even with the SS until 100mph where the SS then began to put about 2 car lengths on me. So I can now say, I hung with an LS1 SS Camaro After the "race" Jason calls Tony's cell phone to tell me I did REALLY well.
Race 2 - Mark VIII vs 1996 Trans Am (intake & cutout)
This one was a good one, after Towers I convince my friend Emir to run me on I75 in his 96' Trans Am. I figure since I did well against the SS that I had a decent chance at hanging with the LT1 T/A. So we line up at 70 mph on I75 South (around Griffin) and he gives me the jump. I hold him off until the end of my 2nd gear (85mph) where he began to gain. He then had 1/2 a car on me until 100mph where he started to pull. This happened 3 more times. Same results each time.
Race 3 - Mark VIII vs Silver GTI 1.8T Golf.
Now this was my highlight of the night. Crusing down Boynton Beach Blvd, Tony spots a newer GTI Golf pulling out of a shopping plaza. Kid has neons inside the car and a fart canon. Also had some Pizza Delivary signs on his doors (ya know, the magnetic ones).
He's weaving in and out of traffic like a fool. I finally line up with him and toss him a few revs. I try to see if he'll go and he does! So we line up again at 40mph and I give him the jump! Lets just say this one was NOT pretty! I proceeded to put about FIVE car lengths on him by 100mph!!!!! Tony and I were STOKED. I give him the "flashers" to let him know that he completely got STOMPED by a grandpa car I try to get him to go for a 2nd from a 20 roll but he yells out the window "Naw dawg, naw you kicked my ass". He then turns off as I continue down Boynton Beach Blvd.
Race 4 - Mark VIII vs 99 V6 Camaro.
This one was a classic "me vs tony" race. This time however it was NOT me driving my Mark. We went to pick up Tony's Camaro from his house and we switched cars. Him in my Mark and me in his v6 Camaro. We're going down Military when I figure I'd see what'd happen from a 40 roll. It was nice to see my Mark VIII put a few car lengths on his Camaro But damn, I miss my Camaro to an extent, so fun to drive. I also need to add that his Camaro is having ignition problems and has been backfiring. Otherwise his car gets up and goes pretty damn good.
