Hey guys while doing the brakes on my newly acquired 93 i found that the rear mufflers are rotted out and have holes in them (they dump under the rear bumper) or are they the silencers? I wont be able to do the exhaust on her for a couple more months because i want to redo the entire exhaust when i do it. Should i just cut them off to let it flow better or just leave them on and wait? I don't see how having holes that far back in the exhaust would hurt performance , if it doesn't, i don't really need to cut them off. Would i benefit from cutting them off other than sound? Thanks

I would just leave 'em there till you are ready to do something -- UNLESS you are curious to hear what it sounds like without mufflers!!!! But don't forget, if you do cut 'em off and if it drones too much or is TOO loud, it's buy it time!

You dont want to cut the mufflers off and have the exhaust simply "end" under the car.
it'll be loud.. and you'll have the risk of carbon monoxide getting drawn into the cabin.

having holes in your mufflers "that far back" in the exhaust system wont hinder performance by any measurable means.

With that said.. if you have holes in the mufflers you are still vunerable to Carbon Monoxide entering the cabin, as mentioned above.

IF you cut the mufflers off.. make sure you extend the exhaust pipe to atleast 1.5 inches to the rear of the bumper cover.

Thanks for the advice guys, i will be leaving them on for now until i can afford the entire swap.

Amen! Not to mention the Black soot all over everything back there.
