All the Mark VIII Wheels

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

I have a 96 non lsc... with chrome directionals (from factory)... i have seen others... with chrome directionals from the factory also on non lsc...

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

Lots of 96 (and maybe earlier) and above on the street with chrome directionals. We are talking about Lacy wheels.

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

I thought we decided there were 7 types of factory wheels...

Aluminum snowflakes (aka lacyspokes)
Silver 20 spoke directionals
Silver/gold 20 spoke directionals
Chrome 20 spoke directionals
Silver 10 spoke directionals
Chrome 10 spoke directionals
Chrome Octastars

Althought, I have to admit, I think those chromed snowflakes are gorgeous...

Does anyone have the "Silver/gold 20 spoke directionals"?

i was reffering to sandys qoute...

#5. 1995 & forward same as #4, Chromed for LSC. Standard on the 1995 mid-year LSC, and thereafter on the LSC, Standard.

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

I've passed on a lot of Marks because they had the (non-existent) lacy spoke wheels. Anybody, and I mean anybody that has them will tell you what a bear they are to keep clean and because of that, they are definitely not worth it!

Bryan, are you kidding, 80% of all Marks left the factory had the Lacy wheels. Not exactly non-existent.

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

Sandy, You are correct that the rim has the Continental name attached to it. I just wonder why the two Mark's that I know of, that have these rims, are 1998's. And why the original Mark rims were replaced with the Conti rims. It seems to me that more than one person went way out of their way for this rim. The Conti rim cost more than the chrome LSC 10 spoke rim at a OEM rim web site. Could it be...?

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

Michael: I think it is just a coincidence. Remember, if you screw up your factory wheels, you either go with more factory wheels or the very few out there with a 4.25 bolt pattern. Not too many choices. BTW, I priced my Octastars at Five Star Ford last year and found the 'suggested' price was $3,000.00 a set. (I paid $419.00 for my set)

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

I hear you, Art. Imagine though, the parts bin empty one day, and the only chrome rims the plant inventory has that will fit the Mark are from the Continental. I know... Dream on... I just wish I knew the story behind the selection of these rims on my Mark.

You got a great deal on the Octastars. If I ever replace mine, I think I will either go with a set of the Octastars, or the chrome LSC 10 spokes. I would also change to a black sidewall tire. I feel these rims would not look as good with the white sidewall tire on my Mark, as the Continental rims.

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

the lacy aluminum wheels look great with whitewalls, pinstripe whitewalls, not the inchwide stripes, very classy,i'd show you guys, but i'm slow and can't figure out how you all get pics to show up on the posts,if anyone felt kind enough to tell me,i wouldn't feel like a moron anymore.

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

Best thing about the lacy spokes is the weight. They are 10 LBS LESS per wheel than the 10 Spoke Chromes.

10 LBS less!!!!

Thats a big difference

RE: All the Mark VIII Wheels

I have the #1 on my car,has anyone put the Late Mark VII wheels on their rides? You know the ones on the LSC's that look like BBS or enkei, usually powdercoated to car color,I think I have seen them on a town car too!Might look sharp on an viii.
