alternator help

I put a used alternator on my 96 that is a Motorcraft re manufactured unit. It had one year service in my 95 LSC and then sat for a year. It puts out good voltage but there is a noise coming from it. I think the noise is because of rust because it sat for a year. Will this noise clear up as I drive it more or do I need to get a new alternator?

Mechanical or electrical noise? It could be brush noise. It could be a bearing.

If the volts and amps output is good, I'd say give it a chance to clear up. If it doesn't, perhaps a local rebuilder can 'freshen it up' with new bearings and brushes.
