OK so, yesturday I had my car parked at cub foods and a shoping cart came and hit my car on the fender and cracked my paint and dented it. The dent is about a inch long , I went off on the manager but he basicly said there's nothing they can do. I tired of crap happening like this, its the second mark on the car, So now I want a new paint job. I want to know if they will have to replace the whole fender because its fiberglass or just bondo it up?, Also im wondering how much something like this will cost ?, im thinking a arm and a leg.

Fiberglass? The fender isn't fiberglass.

And actually there is something you can do regarding the market. Just because the manager says so doesn't mean it's true. It's private property and they are responsible, the same as if you fell.

I thought the fender was fiber glass if not it sounds like it?

Well what should I do, call my Insurance guy, get a lawyer if I get a lawyer Im gunna end up spending more money on him then the repairs would cast.

I was a grocery store manager for 20 years. Carts hit cars fairly often. In all those years the company never paid for damage to a vehicle. Once a lady fell in my store and she tried to sue the company, but the company had Lawyers too! The Lawyer in this case just drug it out so long she couldn’t afford to go on.

If the repair is that expensive I think you should turn the claim into your insurance and let them deal with the store.

As much as you may love your car, to anyone else like grocery store managers and even insurance agents, it is just another parking lot ding on an old car! :frown:

The best defense against such calamities is comprehensive insurance, if you can swallow the premiums.

When I bought may car it had a half dollar size chip in the front bumper and cracks in the paint on both sides of the plate. I took down to a body shop I had used before for an estimate. They wanted $2500 to fix it. Not wanting to spend that much I took some black spray paint and covered the chip.

The guy that details my cars said to call Dentpro. They quoted me $375. I was thinking that it would look terrible, but gave it a shot. Dentpro painted the front bumper and it looks really good! It only took two hours not the 3 days the shop wanted.

This is a good inexpensive fix.

I hope it holds up at least a few years!

I'm confused, he's talking about his fender but you're talkning about a bumper, quite a difference.

As far as bumpers are concerned I had Moose's front and rear bumper covers repainted over the last few years and neither exceeded $350

I realize they are not the same. Just giving an idea of an inexpensive fix.

No I know, but I'm wondering if he said his fender was damaged and meant the bumper? He said it was fiberglass, perhaps he did mean the bumper?

The dent is on the fender, its is about a half a inch deep, and the paint is cracked, it is'nt cracked like it will chip off, I have already had a car wash. Its like its from the midddle of the dent and seperates out in all directions. Also my paint is pearl white I was told they cant match pearl paint so I would have 2 repaint the whole car.

You should find a shop that has it's own color lab. That is where they have the ability to mix their own colors. The shop I had my hood painted at, showed me 4 seperate chips for the color code that was on the car,as that was the amount of variation Lincoln had in that color code for that year. They then followed the reciepe for the chip that matched exactly to my fenders (we made sure it matched both). Although there are few who can give you an absolute match garauntee a good shop should be able to get it close enough to most peoples eyes.

Even better is to find a shop that uses a color laser to find the exact mix; it's the best because it will match sun faded paint...your fender won't look any different than the rest of your car.

I had a nasty hole from a piece of roadside debris on my '98 Mark VIII a few years ago. It is Pearlescent White Metallic. I took it to the Maplecrest Lincoln dealer in New Jersey. They straightened out the metal and filled the hole. They did not paint the whole car. I cannot even tell where the car was repainted. Pearls are hard to match, but it can be done.
