Antique/Junk Store Find

Just made an awesome find at a local Antique/Junk store. It is a Gem Micromatic closed comb Razor. It was made somewhere in the 1930's. I have yet to use it because I need to pick up some blades, as I do not want to use the vintage ones that came with it. It also is still in its box which is slightly rare. Ok to cut to the chase I only paid $8 for it and it is valued at anywhere from $25 to $40. SCORE!!

Oh I'm so proud! Our little boy Bill can shave... I'm all weepy now.

Ha Ha very funny as I am a divorced man that turns 35 next month LOL.

This is however supposed to be the best razor next to a straight razor. I should pickup some blades to try it this next week. I am in love with the art deco style of this and the shear weight is great.

Does that one twist open from the bottom or do you have to flip the top up? I have both, I never use them but they were my Dad's. I also have a small round stainless box with a slit in the lid to dispose of used blades.

Twist from bottom. Cool a stainless steel blade bank would be neat. I know some of the blade banks are actually more expensive than the razors. Funny thing is that if you ever remove a recessed medicine cab in an old house, you might find hundreds of rusty de blades in the wall. Some of the medicine cabs just had a small slit in the bottom back to just put the used blades in there. Out of sight out of mind sounds about right.

Yes I have watched Storage Wars. It is a neat show. I personally love American Pickers.

I also found a Montreal Forum Puck at the same place for about $4. Not sure on the value as I can not find another one on the internet anywhere.

Ha, funny you should mention the slit in the medicine cabinet. I have one and I'm sure there are a lot of old blades in the wall keeping tons of critters from using that pathway!

Ok just got some Gem Blades by Persona at Walgreens. First shave with it was awesome. So close to a straight razor shave it is just unbelievable. This will be my go to razor if I need a close shave for a special event.

I've never seen that show, but nice razor.

I don't think I need anything closer than the sensa trac that I use though, I'd probably shred my face with that thing.:D
