Anyone try stainless steel Flowmasters yet?

RE: Anyone try stainless steel Flowmasters yet?

Has anyone installed a set of stainless steel Flowmasters yet?

What's up Brad?!?!!?!

You made it!

Noisemasters are still Noisemasters no matter what there made of.

RE: Anyone try stainless steel Flowmasters yet?

I'll probably leave my exhaust stock for now, as I'm trying to hold on to enough cash to get started on my street rod.

But if were trying to set up a MK8 as a street machine that was also a weekend/late night warrior, here's what I'd like to use for exhaust {assuming you could get it thru emissions tests}:

1-Quality headers
2-high flow cats
3- 2.5 304 SS pipes
4- Edelbrock dual inlet/outlet muffler in place of 3rd cat& resonator
5- 304 SS over axle into your choice of tips

note:: if this out a little loud for your taste, there's still room at stock location for more mufflers. And you have allowed balance between banks without crtossover"X".

In addition, I've always found that in a siuation where you wanted to avoid drone, the higher percentage of the OA lenth of exhaust system was behind the muffler, the better it was.

Sounds good dave, but just to make a little addition, If you happened to live in an area that required cats and had emmisions tests and still wated to run that basic setup, there is Company called Random Technologies and they make some low profile, short body, straight through cats. I have a buddy using them on his trcuk right now and they more or less make up the entire down-pipe from the headers to the side pipes. Looks cool, saves space, doesn't restrict flow, passes emmisions. Just a thought.

Over the axle and thru the woods, to grandmother's house we go...

OK, wise guys, "over the axle" is my mistake. It can't be done on MK8, just shows my age, but I've never tried to hide that!

Should have said "past the axle", but I think you knew what I meant!

My whole point was/is that an exhaust system usually has less drone and a better sound with some tail pipe behind mufflers, and the Edelbrock dual inlet/outlet muffler in place of 3rd cat & resonator should allow that and substitute for "X" at same time.

RE: Anyone try stainless steel Flowmasters yet?

Dave, just busting your "you know what" to have a little bit of fun at your expense. Actually, I like your setup which is exactly what I'm doing on my '98 to give it a little more "you know what". Nice cheap mod for guys with LSC's looking for a little more growl.
