Hey guys, I've been looking around the forum for a write up on blend door problems on Gen 1's and cannot find much. From what I've read so far blend door failure on Gen 1's is rare. The problem I have in my 95 is no heat and a constant thumping noise from behind the dash. The noise sounds like a motor spinning and at the apex of the motor noise a nice thump that sounds like a door opening and shutting. The noise does stop if I turn the AC on and set it to around 75-78 degrees. The AC blows cold...the heat does not work.
I live in the High Desert of Southern California and for Cali.... it gets cold and even snows a few times a year. Temps as low as 10 degrees. With a baby coming by the end of summer I have to repair this before next winter because I will never hear the end of it from the wifey who wanted me to get a truck or Suv.
