Catless downtubes...

Does anyone know of anyone that makes them for the Mark VIII? I am looking to get some. If not, I found a local shop that will make them (crosses fingers) for me, and will see if he can fab up a few more sets. Just don't know what the cost will be until I know how many sets I would need is all..:(

RE: Catless downtubes...

What are catless downtubes? The cat on one side is welded to the stock header.

RE: Catless downtubes...

They are downtubes that would have no catalytic converters. I know it's welded on the drivers side I believe. The guy I talked to about making the downtubes said it shouldn't be hard to fix that. He's going to take a look at it later this week again.

RE: Catless downtubes...

Would it be able to install without pulling off the headers? Let us know what you find out. I may be interested. ::roll::

RE: Catless downtubes...

I guess downtubes are the pipe running from the headers to......? I doubt if the welded cat can be removed without taking the header off and I don't see how the downtube can be welded back on the header with it on the car. It's very tight in there.

RE: Catless downtubes...

You have to wonder why they were built like that. I mean one welded to the header and one flanged to the header. Or is it so obvious I'm not seeing it?

RE: Catless downtubes...

Just ford's way of keeping us down. By putting the cat where it is on that side it helps restrict the exhaust making it a little harder to pass the puny Mustang.
