Hey Everyone,

I work for a dealer in NE Ohio, and I found a company close to me that will triple chrome plate stock wheels for 175 each. Thats my dealer cost. I don't know if this would help anybody but I'ld be willing to have open up their service to any members here. They usually do exchange, but since stock mark wheels aren't a dime a dozen we would probably have to give him sets to chrome. Process takes 10 to 14 days once I recieve the wheels. I have one set of painted directionals to start with off of my car( my 18x9 chrome bullet wheels just arived!). The wheels would have a 1 year warranty against defects; peeling,bubbling, etc. And I've seen their work, It looked better than stock chrome. I might be interested. How does it work? do you give me a set and I trade mine in, or do i give you mine and you send them in? i'm in the CLE. area too.

When a wheel starts to bubble and peel, is that damage permanent or just cosmetic? How do they (re-chromers) deal with that? I'd be interested, but not until Spring at the earliest. My ten spokes are going to hell in a handbasket.

I looked into re-chroming awhile ago but in my opinion is just too expensive. From what I have seen it is just easier and cheaper to replace the chrome that you want to look nicer. As far as wheels $700 for rechroming ? That's definitely high, you can look around and find some for alot less than that new-Geno has the cobra r's for a $999- on sale. I was going to get the chrome stip above the grill rechromed and the cheapest I found was $100--a new one cost $130 via max at five star ford. Just my opinion because chrome will always bubble eventually if the car is exposed to the elements.

Yeah, basically i figured the same.... too expensive to rechrome, it isnt relly much of a savings unfortunately.... I dont understand why though....

I doubt they can. I tried to find places that would chrome plastic. Everyone i called in the US said that they could not do it.

Here's a place that claims to do electroplating of plastic parts. I ran across them a few months back, but I know nothing else about them.

Their sample pics leave a LOT to be desired, but it might be worth a shot to give them a call.

Well, a set of ten spoke directionals in excellent shape are becoming harder and harder to come by. Last set I saw on Ebay went for $1000. The thing is, I just realy like those wheels. So it might be worth it to me to have mine rechromed. The only question is how long would they last compared to factory chrome.
