Climate control lights

The lights on my climate control for Max A/C and Vent didn't light up tonight. Is it possible to remove it and replace bulbs somehow, or how can this problem be rectified?

Thanks in advance

RE: Climate control lights

Jay, I just pulled the EATC(climate control) from my '93 and updated it with the '96 model. I did notice both had instructions for lamp replacement. One of them, the '93 I think, had a sticker instructing what to do and it involved splicing wires and such. Either way, pull the EATC out and I believe the instructions should be on the bottom.

Great! Thanks for the quick response. Hopefully I'll find sometime this weekend to give my baby a nice wash/wax and get the lights on the EATC fixed. She also needs a oil change real soon.

I also don't know how she goes from being a she to a he sometimes. Oh well. I like the ride I get ;)

RE: Climate control lights

Yea jay to replace the bulbs you take the EATC out and turn it upside down. From there you can get to the light bulbs.

RE: Climate control lights

Hopefully I'm getting to this tomorrow night.

To pull the EATC I need to pull the headunit for the radio first... is that correct? And I'm not sure exactly how to do that. I have an idea but not 100%.

If someone could just give me a quick overview of how to pull the stuff out I shouldn't have a problem with it. Thanks guys.

RE: Climate control lights

You do NOT have to pull the radio or anything else. Just carefully pull the trim plate around the EATC. Start by pulling gently at the bottom left corner, then the bottom right corner. Then release the top corners and remove the trim plate. The top corners are held in place with two hook type prongs - one in each corner - which are easily released with a thin tool between the EATC and the trim plate.

You MAY want to remove the switch plate below the EATC however. I discovered that with all the wrangling to get the harnesses unplugged from the rear I inadvertently scratched the trim plate below the EATC that houses the defroster switch and the TC switch. This would probably be more of an issue with wood trim. Perhaps a towel or something to cover it would help.

A 10mm - 1/4" drive deep well socket is perfect for removing the speed nuts holding the vacumn harness plug to the rear of the EATC. No ratchet required, just a solid grip with your bare hands.

Piece of cake.

The trim plate?? Is that like the black piece of hard plastic around the buttons? My switch plate... I'm guessing the wood piece beneath the EATC, where the Tracton Assist and rear defroster are, is wood. (I gotta a cool 96)

The rest of it I understand. If I could get just a little clarification on the trim plate I pull on I'd feel more confident. I'd hate to rip part of it up and have to get a new EATC.

RE: Climate control lights

Jay, the trim plate is the the plastic(wood covered in your cool '96?) around the whole EATC unit. It should lap over the top of the switch plate below(the piece with the traction assist and rear defrost buttons). It has about a two inch high by six inch wide opening for the EATC. The EATC is secured by 4 torx head screws(2 each side) found behind the trim plate. Just pull up gently but firmly to unsnap the bottom corners.
