Edelbrock 2 in 2 out?

Anyone have any takes on the new Edelbrock 2 in 2 out muffler with the X over in middle?
Or better yet. A sound clip on a DOHC motor? Maybee i should post this on the Stang site for some hits. Was wondering if any of you heard your stang buddies cars with it, or if a Lincoln owner put one on.
Was thinking of using this on my next exhaust setup with the mandrell 45's mounted in middle under gastank and just tips out the rear like the mustangs. Just curious what it sounded like. I like the quietness of the dual Magnaflows i'm running now, and don't want the raspiness and crackle of the Flowmasters, so there out of the question. I want the central location muff setup to change sound of exhaust but am trying to pick out a muffler setup that will fit in central tunnel below driveshaft.

RE: Edelbrock 2 in 2 out?

I remember Eli talking about a setup that had full lenght headers, edelbrock 2 mid mount muffler and straight pipes out back. It was one of the best and meanest sounding exhaust ever (taking LTs into account). However, than mufler has been discountinued (it was a very nice low profile version). What is the new one you're talking about ?

here's a quote from an old post:
"hey guys Eli is talking about my Lincoln it is actually an Edelbrock dual in dual out 2.5" muffler part number 5512(125 bucks from summit all ss construction)...it has 2 x pipes inside ,what a great design..it has a very deep mellow sound at idle then all nasty when mashed."

RE: Edelbrock 2 in 2 out?

awwww I have been looking at an old Summit catalog that is next to my john in house for a while now. :( I was hoping to get one of those, and have Mike Shultz's buddy put them in in Georiga at his muff shop that did jhis exhaust. Any reason they yanked them off the market? Lack of sales or something? I think it would fit great. And it would sound a hell of a lot better more closer to the lower rumble of a mustang cobra instead of what i have now that raspy basket sound out the back. I just have way too many 90's and tight corner bends for my liking. Still going to look into this, not giving up.

I had long tubes, a 2 in, 2 out magnaflow x-pipe / muffler, and 2 more magnaflow mufflers out the back of my car. I got compliments on the sound all the time. A nice low rumble at idle, loud when you step on it, quiet when cruising.

So, Magnaflow still makes a 2 in 2 out? Cool. You don't happen to have a sound clip you could post at startup and idle? maybee a couple of revs? I just dont want the muffs at end of tailpipes anymore to change the sound. Also my tranny cooler will be mounted back there now when the time comes. The magnaflow is 2 1/2" inlets and outlets right? if so that might be what im looking for.

RE: Edelbrock 2 in 2 out?

I'm using the Magna Flow 2 in /2 out (3"dia.)as they have a "X" built in. Model 12469

RE: Edelbrock 2 in 2 out?

The old edelbrock I was talking about had two x-pipes inside of it.

The SDT series is new. I've never heard of anyone using it. Try and let us know ? :D

RE: Edelbrock 2 in 2 out?

the older edelbrocks had problems with blowing up and breaking. i had one on a G35 coupe last a month and a half before he brought it back. it blew out the top of it and crack every where. you can get a magnaflow 4x9 or 5x8. i use the 4x9 dual in dual out on the 350z exhaust and i have the 5x8 on my mark 8. i have done 4 cars with that muffler.

That was it. The only Mark VIII with headers I have ever heard that sounded decent.
