Front license plate

This may be a dumb question, but how do you remove the front license plate mount on the '98 mark's?

There are two metal screws/bolts/something holding it onto the bumper but they have a smooth head, it almost looks like the bolt or w/e comes in from the other side and the license plate mount has the female threaded part molded to it. However I cannot seem to get to the other side.
any ideas?

Thanx.

I believe that they are plastic "push pins". They will probably break if/when you try to pry it out. The outside (pin) pushes into a receptacle. Because of the age of the plastic it has prob become brittle and will break by prying the pin out.

well there are definably some metal threaded objects inside both of the smooth plastic bumps on the mount. i tried prying them and they did not give.

From the manual...

HAHAAHAHAHAHA - That's like trying to put tooth paste back into the tube!!! Love to see someone put the drill in reverse and re-install the drilled out rivets!!! LOL

If you use a small punch to tap the center stud in a bit, it's easier to drill out the rivets.
