Fuel Door Adjustment

Before anyone says it, I ALREADY searched and came up with zero, so here it is.
My fuel filler door is far from being flush with the rest of the fender. It's almost like the spring is pushing it out proud of the opening. Any ideas on how to adjust it?

The way it worked for me was to put washers between the fuel cap housing and the car's body. There is no other adjustment that I could find. I've done it on several mark viiis with great results.

Could I get a more detailed explaination on that fix? Would pictures be asking too much?

check to see if your filler door popper is loose.there is some adjustment to it, but it is a pia. going through the same thing with mine. you will want to push it in farther. if you cannot push it in farther after loosening the bolts the only other solution is to modify the plastic that i bolts through. ie:cutting some adjustment slits in it. however i think that your popper has just come loose. dont go cutting unless it is your last resort.
