Grillwork No Longer Shining!

My '97 Mark VIII has a problem with the plastic trim pieces beginning to lose their finish and turn black. Short of replacing with new pieces, there must be a way to put a new finish on the trim pieces.

Anyone know where the trim can be sent for re-finishing?

They can do that to plastic?

Pretty much any material now-a-days. They use different intermediate layers depending on the material being coated, but the final layer is the same chrome.

For example, to get chrome to stick to aluminum, you have to coat the wheel with copper first, then zinc, then chrome. The whole process involves about 40 chemical baths.

Yah, mine too. How durable are they? Will they last longer than the OEM finish?

I think the black chrome might look good on mine. Subdued but still flashy.

Just chiming in to say that if I had the money, I would get a chrome toilet for my house in a heartbeat.

That is all. =)

I was wondering why this thread had so many replies....so I opened it...and you guys are talking about taking dumps! WTH? Haha!
