hi there. this is my first time posting on here, although i have been searching and reading this forum all day trying to find help to my problem.
i have a 94 markviii. it has jbl sound. several months ago my head unit got stolen out of my car.
someone gave me a new head unit which i am now trying to install.
before my head unit got stolen it worked perfectly, and had pretty sound. no problems at all.
i buy this harness "metra 705510" made all my connections beautifully. i plug it into my car. it lights up, spins cds, antenna works, power and all that is fine.
but no sound
check the trunk and find out the factory amp is gone. was probably replaced with an after market one due to extra wires. but that too is gone. the thieves only stole my head unit so i know that my prior head unit worked without an amp.
the metra 705510 is made for a factory amp. so i am thinking that may be an issue. a master tech friend of mine suggested i splice into the wires from that connector before it turns into the rca cables..try to see if i can use it with the eight speaker wires. tried that, and it didn't work either. not a buzz nor a pop not anything.
i have lots of pictures, but being that this is my first post i wasn't sure about including them, but i will if needed.
does anybody have any suggestions? advice on what to try next?
do i just need a new harness, one that isn't intended for the amp? and wouldn't splicing into the metra connector and connecting my eight speaker wires be the same thing?
i saw an amp bypass harness...but the thing is...i obviously didn't need one before, or otherwise my last head unit wouldn't have worked.
i am a single female with nooooo money and little experience, trying my best to make this work. i need to know for certain if i have to buy something else, because right now, i don't even have the twenty bucks for a new harness.
