Help with New Head Unit???

[97BLK LSC]

Hey Guy's...................

If I wanted to go with a new Head Unit for my 97 LSC, what is the best and what are the price ranges?? What are the Pros vs. Cons?

My 97 Mark VIII does use the Double DIN size, right???

Brands? (Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood, etc.....)

youve got alot to choose from when it comes to head units. depending on what you want, the prices can range anywhere from $100 - $2500. yes your mark has a double din opening. im not sure if u want to fill that entire opening or not, but there are double din units out there that usually have both cd and tape that would fit. i myself have my headunit with an equalizer mounted right below it.

Can't go wrong with alpine IMHO. Pioneer and KE\enwood are also good quality brands. I would avoid sony, JVC, Aiwa...


They make double din radios, but they usually aren't the best radios. You'd be better off getting some thigns to stick in there such as an EQ, or getting a bezel to surround it.

Just to add my two cents, I put a Kenwood in my 96LSC. The sound was good, even going through the JBL amp and then the head unit's amp, but what always bothered me was the fact it didn't fit right. I had a small shelf-like thing and then the head unit. Looked cheap. If I do it all over again with my 98, I'd buy a new head unit, add the equalizer or get a custom install job that made that unit looked smart, expensive, right.
