HL lense cleaning?

I saw a nice trick today on Two Guys Garage show this morning. They cleaned up the yellowed/hazed head lamp lenses on a late model Tbird with of all things tooth paste!! Has anyone here tried this and if so how well did it work?

There are many methods, and it depends on how bad the lenses are. Haze can be eliminated with polishing compound or plastic polisher, deeper scratches require wet sanding, and UV light yellowing can never be fully eliminated - the yellowing occurs throughout the plastic.

I've never heard of anyone using toothpaste, but it sounds like it would work.

It IS an abrasive, so it will probably work...expensive tho. Why not just use the thing you should use? Plastic polish....Mequires has a great one. In most auto parts stores. I used it on my '97 over a year ago...still look great!

Virtually any polishing compound will work. I used a metal polish and good ole' elbow grease on my '93 back when it had the regular headlamp lenses.
