I've got some medium-sized PA speakers and tripods. don't know if they'll both fit in the trunk of the Mark though. then we'd need to tap into somebody's car stereo or something
HAHAHA... I've got a system that will at worst rival whatever they have on the stage, and more likely blow it away, but we'd need at least a 30A 6000W generator to really power it like is should be... oh, and you can't be closer then 50ft to it without ear plugs... Maybe we could talk one of those simi trailers into letting us set up on top...
What if we apply for a temporary FCC radio license and broadcast live from the show field all weekend... I'm pretty sure I can come up with all the gear we'd need... lol
"Live from WMK8, Carlisle Pennsylvania..."
We're a non-profit, and as long as we claim that we're using the station to give directions to the show field every 30 min or some BS like that, they might bite...
Yes, the waterboard method doesn't work on cars, and I can't figure out where to put a ball gag.
I'd be glad to bring the poster, it looks worse in person, it's bubbling up from the back but it's in unrestored condition.
I probably would need one of those poster tripods for it, I'll try to see if I can borrow one from work if no one else has one.
I've also got the original graphic file from the Kimbal cutaway drawing used in the early brochures. It's a huge file, and it's some strange graphics format. If someone's got connections with a printing company, maybe we can get it printed out?
Email me the file and I'll see what I can do Bill. Our company had a pile of digital pics made into artwork to hang on the office walls. I can check on what it would take to get it done.
Bill: I've got a good sized HP plotter in my office (42 or 44 inch, I don't recall.) feel free to send a copy my way as well. I'm sure I can print it if I reimburse the district for ink. (and read whatever the format is)
Badsax: I like the way you think! Both with the sound system and the radio station. (will your gear fit in a trunk?) Could you really get your hands on an FM transmitter? I wonder if the FCC would grant an "event license" for such a thing. somehow I suspect it may be a long shot.
The sound system literally 'just' fits in the Saxillac, there is just about enough space for me to fit in the car... so at the expense of bringing any luggage and GASP booze, I could conceivable bring it...
as for the radio idea, I used to do it for the boy scout jamboree, so yes the FCC will actually grant a temp radio license, and I'm pretty sure the way we got it was by giving directions to the event every hour or half and hour, I forget... So somewhere, there is a (I think) 5kw transmitter and a mast radiator... I can't remember how many pieces the mast is, but all set up it was pretty tall, and a pita to anchor, I do remember that...
Mike and JP, I looked at the disk with the files and the extension of the files is raf. There are also some huge jpg files that were (I think) converted from the raf files. They are over 10 and 20 megs each so I don't think I can email them.
Please PM your home addresses to me and I'll just send you a copy of the CD with all the files on it.
sax: that transmitter sounds like it would be an awful lot of fun. 5kw! wow! gets me excited just thinking about it. However I can't help but feel that it'd be too much trouble. particularly if it comes at the expense of booze. Or FCC fines resulting from B.W.I (Broadcasting while intoxicated?)
Say, speaking of intoxicated. who do I have to bribe to be switched from "beginner" to the "bobbing for olives club." That's awesome!
