i have a whole ton of spare PC/Laptop parts, maybe I should consider doing this. Im going custom style on the whole center dash anyways.... It won't cost that much more, the only things I really dont have are a small case, a 12v power supply and some of the adapters and stuff.

damn, thats a pretty nice setup especially with the obdII software hes got. i still like the audi that was posted a little better though, but this was deffinately nice.

This kind of cuaght my eye, and being the geek that i am, I decided to try and do this. After some lurking around at mp3car.com I realized how much of a pain this stuff really is!! There are all kinds of power supply issues and diplay issues that really arent worth it to have to deal with. Let alone that fact that do get even a decent setup, you are looking at spending just over $1k. So I am scrapping the idea of getting a carputer and will stick to burning my mp3's to a CD, as that was what I really wanted it for anyways. Well that and the navigation.....
One idea that i did come up with is using a PCI relay controler card in conjuction with some sort of rendition of the Kale mod and using the carputer to control the height of the air suspension! But that to, is not going to happen.
