Im sure everyone knows to do this but im just telling my story. I replace the front pads on my wifes Escape last week. I jacked the car up had the wheel off and was using it as a seat with my head in the wheel well removing the back caliper bolts when my jack let go. Well work in a shop for so long I know to use jack stands so the car didn't fall very far I prob. wouldn't be hear telling the story right now If I didn't have stands under the car. My jack is only 1 1/2yrs old and could handle lifting a full size truck no probs. My point is please don't be dependent on a jack holding up your car alone when working on it. use some knid of stands logs work well thanks have a good night Ron B.

Glad you are ok! I ALWAYS use stands, although I let the car down onto the stands before I start working. What kind of jack were you using?

Yea i always skip the jack stands cause I'm too lazy. From now on I will though. Glad you didn't get hurt

My grandpa used to own a wrecking yard in Tulsa. There were a few occassions where he has found a dead customer crushed underneath a vehicle where jack stands were not used.

the point I was making is to just tell people that Jacks do let go and its better to be safe then sorry

Right...we're on the same page. I just wanted to get the word out that jacks do fail a lot more than people think.
