I broke my Excillim Casio Camera... so
I just got a new Canon SD750 and a NIKON D40x!!!
I am super excited because I haven't shot with DSLRs yet!! New pics to come!!

Sounds nice Max.

I need a new camera too. I just checked, I've taken 22,597 photos with my old Sony Cybershot.:)

Since you've got 2 new cameras, can you take the same shot with each camera for comparison? I'd like to see the difference.

Oh yeah, why did you buy 2 new cameras?

I recently bought the Canon SD750 & I love it. I have a 4gb SD card for it and can take a 90 minute vid with it or over 2000 high resolution snapshots. I now carry it everywhere I go something I wouldn't or couldn't do previously with my previous equipment because of their size etc.

Got the card for under $30 at NewEgg.

I paid about the same as Max did for the Canon but at CostCo.

My costco didn't have it :( and now they only have a 3 month return policy on cameras so if I break this one after 3 months it won't do me any good to have bought it from costco...

And this is exactly why I bought 2 cameras too, I will only use the DSLR for events etc where size isn't an issue. I had a film SLR camera and loved it so I wanted to go digital.

I found that I need an ultra compact camera for day to day photography. My old 7.2 Megapixel Casio did an excellent job taking pictures and videos at 640x480 they were pretty good quality too! Thew new ones (Casio) are at 848x480, which would go great with the HD-TV but I couldn't justify a really crappy screen with only 115k pixels and this is the 2nd one (Casio) that broke for me so I wanted something more durable.

Thanks for the link for the SD card... I think I will continue to use my 1 gig since I never ran into storage issues with it. But I may need a new card for the Nikon!! So I'll check new-egg out.

Oh btw chosing the ultra compact for me was much harder than chosing the DSLR, because there are so many choices out there....

I almost got the Nikon S50/51 but I read about their terrible shoot to shoot and start up times in comparison to the canon and changed my mind.

If you do get the 4gb, also get the one bundled with a card reader if you don't already have a high capacity SD card reader as the regular card readers will not recognize the 4gb. I made the mistake of not getting the bundled packaage and my old card reader is useless with it.

I usually connect the camera directly to the computer ... But thanks for the heads up.

Another great thing is watching everything at 1920x1080 on the HDTV thanks for the built in card reader in the PS3. I am certainly looking forward to this.

Also check out Amazon for digital cameras and accessories, I found they give very good prices as well.

Post the DSLR pics on FlickR, they have an option that will show all sizes and not compress the pic as well.

Does FlickR host (hotlink) for free?! I noticed that photobucket always butchers my high res pics. They really don't look the same after you size em down.

Yes i can hot link from Flickr, it is not as easy as photobucket as where you can just click on the code from the album and past.
