keypad question

Why do the keycodes go up to 10 digits then there are only 5 keypads? Were they trying to be sneaky when they combined 1/2 3/4 5/6 7/8 9/0 on the pads? Or were they just being stupid.

Just one of those things that I've wondered about for a while.

RE: keypad question

That's actually pretty funny and I have absolutely NO idea why. Unless I'm missing something - there would be no difference in the code 2468 amd 1357 would there?

RE: keypad question

It's just for memory aids, same as a telphone has three letters to each number. Seems pretty logical to me.

RE: keypad question

I have though about that since my 1st Lincoln. I think it's dumb! My wife, at first thought that the buttons always returned to the middle and you had to push one side or the other, as on 1/2 the left would be "1" and the right would be "2" and each time the button returned to the middle. THAT would make sence - she thinks it's dumb too!
