Lincoln Park Car show photos

I went to the Lincoln Park Days car show. It was a nice show in the shade, with a lot of beautiful cars.

I was driving my MG so, I thought I'd join it. I was too late (they were awarding trophies when I pulled up) but that's OK, because they wanted 20 bucks to sign up for it. I wouldn't win any trophies anyway. I just pulled in, and parked next to an Amphicar and checked out the show for free.:)

I really liked the 48 Oldsmobile with the straight 8 engine. It looked so simple.

Me thinks the Olds had a straight 6, not 8 or the pic didn't show the other two. I also think it was a '49, not '48. The 8 cylinder for GM's then were V's.

Here's a better shot of the straight 8 engine. You can see 7 plugs, there is one more hidden behind the carburetor.

I'm pretty sure that the sign said it was a 48.

WOW...from MY era and I don't remember it...Def a straight 8 and if so HAS the be a '48. Olds, Caddy went to all V*'s in '49 (I think). Buick had the straight 8. Chev was a overhead 6 until '55. Pontiac, it believe was a straight 8 too...and maybe a straight 6 like Chev.

Yeah, I also saw a straight 8 in an early 50's Packard the day before, at another local show. That thing was huge!

Too bad I didn't have my camera with me then.:(

Ya know, that Packard ( if it's the one I'm thinking of) had auto-leveling rear shocks/air bags very similar to our own Marks? They heavyly
advertised on TV....showed 3 BIG people getting in back seat and it really lowered the rear. Started the car and up came the rear to level. As a 13-14 year old, I thought that was way cool!

Yes, that Riviera was beautiful.

It had dual quads on what looked like the Buick Nailhead engine. I didn't know that they did that.

Here's a shot of it:

Pontiac had a straight 8 like mentioned above, I was lucky enough to see one, unfortunately it was rusting away in an old field in up state new york :(

P.S. I hate carburetors :(
